Ketosis and ketoacidosis both concern our health states. They sound similar, but they are two polar opposites.
Ketosis is the state where our body becomes efficient at burning fat and muscle is spared. This is a healthy state.
Ketoacidosis is the state where our body is not efficient at burning fat and glucose. This is a dangerous state similar to starvation where the blood turns acidic and muscle atrophy results.
One main reason people do not recommend low-carb diets is that it could induce the ketosis state. Upon hearing ketosis, they associate low-carb diets with ketoacidosis.
